Workshop for the Creation of an Annual Plan for the Advisory and Coordination Group for the LGBT Rights
Office of Good Governance with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Pristina and with the facilitation assistance from the EU Twinning Project Against Homophobia and transphobia in Kosovo held a two-day workshop on 15 and January 16, 2015, at Hotel "SIRUS" Pristina with the presence of all members of the Group, with the purpose of drafting the annual work plan of the Group for the year (2015).
On 18.12.2013, the Kosovo Government established the Advisory and Coordination Group for the LGBT Rights (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender), decision nr. 05-161. The Advisory and Coordination Group for LGBT rights serves as the main mechanism for coordinating and advising Kosovo institutions aiming at protecting and promoting the rights or LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community.
The aim of this Advisory Group is to establish partnership and cooperation between the local and international institutions and the non-governmental organizations engaged in protection and promotion of LGBT community rights in Kosovo. The Group has exhibited commitment to ensure equal rights for the LGBT Community in Kosovo; however, the need to have an Annual Work Plan has emerged as a necessity for achieving tangible results, having a clear vision, and for not losing sight of all the work done by the individual stakeholders.
The Group considers that an annual work plan, containing clear definitions of the Group’s role, its executive and monitoring scope, yearly benchmarks, procedural technicalities and work methodology would greatly help the group with having a goal to work towards, creating an identity in the governmental system, and ultimately producing tangible results that will help the LGBT Community.
